Kia
ora and welcome to our class for 2016.
You
have a very important job to do and that is to help choose a name for our
classroom. At Goodwood all our classrooms have native bird names.
The
first thing to think about is what native bird’s names do we already have at
Goodwood School?
Kereru,
Kiwi, Takahae, Kakapo, Kotare, Weka, Korimako,
Tui,
Kea, Warou, Ruru and Piwakawaka
Okay
so now what names are left and which one would suit our classroom and why?
Click
on the link below and check out New Zealand’s native birds. You can learn about
them and listen to their call.
Wonderings
when you are thinking of a name…
How
does the bird connect to our class?
What
is it about the bird that you like?
Does
the bird have a Maori name?
Once
you have chosen one that you like pin it on our padlet wall on our blog with your name
and maybe a picture of the bird if you can.
Then
use a post it note or paper and staple your choice onto our wall at
school with your name and why you like the bird.
Hi, this is your choice as this is your class. I can't wait to see what you think. This is exciting!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mrs Alton. I think we should name our classroom Kuaka after the bartailed Godwit because of their success in flying such a long distance and I hope that our classroom will become successful and fly ahead like the Kuaka. It was also the bird of the year last year. From Evie Ismay
